Job Summary

  • The Supervisor, Software Development oversees the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions supporting business operations and technology workflows. This role provides technical direction for development teams, ensures code quality and security, and coordinates development activity from planning through deployment. The position requires strong technical expertise, ownership, and communication across technology, data, and product groups.

Essential Functions and Tasks

  • Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software applications and services used across Ventra.
  • Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentoring to developers working on shared systems and tools.
  • Translate business and product requirements into technical specifications, solution designs, and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate release planning, sprint workloads, backlog refinement, and deployment activities with cross-functional teams.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, ensuring root-cause analysis and long-term stability improvements.
  • Enforce secure coding standards and ensure compliance with architecture, data security, and privacy policies.
  • Maintain documentation of application logic, data flows, APIs, integrations, and development patterns.
  • Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability through monitoring, refactoring, and proactive improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure alignment and long-term maintainability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, modernization opportunities, and adoption of updated development tooling.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of software development experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience leading development workstreams or supervising engineers preferred.
  • Strong experience with .NET, C#, APIs, SQL, and related modern development tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, source control systems, containerization, and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Experience supporting production systems in a healthcare or revenue cycle environment is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to lead complex engineering efforts with minimal direction.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and drive resolution quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply state and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and professional manner.
  • Ability to remain flexible and work in a collaborative, fast paced environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel pivot tables, and database software.
  • Proficiency with modern programming languages, relational databases, and integration patterns.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of secure coding practices, compliance requirements, and data governance principles.

Compensation

  • Base Compensation will be based on various factors unique to each candidate including geographic location, skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. 
  • This position is also eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus in accordance with company policies.
