The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for maintaining a reliable, secure, and efficient data communications network. This position also deploys, configures, maintains, and monitors all active equipment, both virtual and physical, to ensure smooth operations. This includes overseeing all servers and supporting all IT systems including but not limited to Citrix, Azure, Active Directory, Office 365, and any management tools the IT team or business units use
Works closely with the Director of IT to determine future system needs and plan for changes to those systems
Researches and makes recommendations on server system administration. Specifies system requirements and design solutions. Upgrades system components as newer technology becomes available
Supports virtualization environment and Azure cloud computing environment
Administers and supports Citrix and VMWare application virtualization platform
Supports and administers all on premise system
Supports and administers Active Directory including GPOs. Administers Exchange e-mail server for internal and remote connections
Supports and administers third-party applications
Monitors network performance (availability, utilization, throughout and latency).
Engages in regular troubleshooting activities, resolves network connectivity issues, and provides Root Cause Analyses
Provides user support for all printer and workstation issues
Supports Help Desk staff and serves as Tier 3 escalation
Serves as team lead for junior staff members
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience in related field preferred
At least seven (7) years of experience working in information technology field as a systems admin or engineer
Experience with virtualization, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Exchange 2010 or higher email administration, and Active directory administration
Experience with Network Services (DNS, DHCP, etc.)
Experience managing medium to large networks
Experience with PowerShell scripting is preferred
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), preferred
Expert level working knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platforms
Strong supervision/management/leadership skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong time management skills
Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to complete complex projects with minimal to no supervision
Ability to take initiative and effectively troubleshoot while focusing on innovative solutions

Ability to remain flexible and work within a collaborative and fast paced environment
