Job Summary

  • The Provider Education Support is responsible for running reports and, when instructed, identifying changes in coding and documentation trends. Under the direction of the Director, Provider Education, the Provider Education Support will evaluate medical records for documentation deficiencies and potential missed charges. Findings will be recorded, tracked, and reported to the Director or Senior Education Specialist. This is not a client or patient-facing/interacting position.

Essential Functions and Tasks

  • Create reports; routine monthly provider reports and special requests.
  • Perform record reviews to identify documentation deficiencies or missed charges.
  • Perform record reviews to address HM concurrency denials related to diagnosis coding.
  • Support the Provider Education Specialists, Senior Provider Education Specialists, and Director with special projects.
  • Maintain white paper library.  
  • Retrieve documents from client’s systems for audit projects.  
  • Review documentation within anesthesia records to locate deficiencies, to include incidents, in clients to determine educational guidance that will be created for client.
  • Create educational content for clients based on coding and billing guidelines.
  • Perform compliance and coding audits to ensure accuracy within claim submission.
  • Assist with completion of quarterly audits to include review of documentation to support billing standards and creation of content for discussion with clients.
  • Perform continuous review of documentation received from newly onboarded clients/facilities within first 30 days.  Generate educational guidance based on audit findings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, Senior Director of Provider Education, or Senior Provider Education Specialists.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent required.
  • At least four (4) years of coding experience and two (2) years of auditing experience.
  • Degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, or related field or equivalent experience/training preferred.
