We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Automation QA to drive the quality engineering strategy for a modern analytics platform built on Snowflake and Microsoft Power BI.

This role will lead automation testing for data pipelines, transformations, data models, and BI dashboards. The ideal candidate has deep experience in data warehouse testing, ETL/ELT validation, BI testing, and building robust automation frameworks for large-scale analytics programs.

You will collaborate closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers, Architects, Product Owners, and DevOps teams to ensure data accuracy, performance, and reliability across the analytics ecosystem.

• Quality Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and implement the end-to-end QA strategy for the Snowflake-based data warehouse and Power BI reporting environment.
  • Establish automation-first testing practices for data and analytics systems.
  • Lead and mentor QA engineers and data testers.
  • Define quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting dashboards.

  Data Warehouse & ETL/ELT Testing

  • Validate data ingestion pipelines into Snowflake.
  • Test transformations, aggregations, joins, and business logic.
  • Perform source-to-target data validation.
  • Validate data reconciliation, completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Implement automated data comparison and validation frameworks.

  BI & Analytics Testing (Power BI)

  • Validate datasets, semantic models, DAX calculations, and measures in Microsoft Power BI.
  • Test report visuals, filters, slicers, drill-through, row-level security (RLS), and performance.
  • Validate dashboard performance and query optimization.
  • Ensure consistency between warehouse data and published reports.

  Automation Framework Development

  • Design and implement scalable automation frameworks for:
    • Data validation
    • Regression testing
    • API testing
    • Data pipeline testing
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Enable automated reconciliation between source systems and Snowflake.

  Performance & Security Testing

  • Conduct query performance benchmarking in Snowflake.
  • Validate warehouse scaling and workload behavior.
  • Test data masking, RLS, and access controls.
  • Validate compliance with governance standards.

  DevOps & CI/CD Integration

  • Integrate QA processes into DevOps pipelines.
  • Enable automated testing in build and deployment workflows.
  • Work with data engineers to implement shift-left testing practices.

   

• 5+ years of experience in QA and Test Automation, with at least 3+ years focused on data warehouse, ETL/ELT, and analytics testing.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including testing of data pipelines, query performance, RBAC, masking policies, and warehouse scaling behavior.
• Strong experience testing Power BI, including semantic models, DAX validation, RLS.
• Proven expertise building and maintaining automation frameworks using Python, Java, Great Expectations, dbt tests, or similar data-focused validation tools.
• Advanced SQL proficiency, including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub) and version control (Git).
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including defining QA strategy, mentoring QA engineers, and partnering with Data Engineering and BI teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business rules into test cases and drive quality governance.
• Ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments, participating in sprint ceremonies and enabling shift-left testing practices.

Technical Skills (Required)

• SQL (advanced level)
• Python / Java for automation scripting
• Dbt/ pytest testing frameworks
• Great Expectations or similar data quality tools
• Familiarity in using:
• CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Version control (Git)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure / AWS)

• Base Compensation will be based on various factors unique to each candidate including geographic location, skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
