Job Summary:
The Desktop Support Technician's role is to support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
General personal computer and software set up
Troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via work order) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required
Support, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated maintenance plans for IT management
Perform basic server/network maintenance and troubleshooting, including maintaining our backup tape library
Communicate regular written and in-person updates with the organization’s executives, decision-makers, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities
Training as needed for staff as well as Ventra Health clients on IT related issues
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience in related field preferred
At least three (3) years of experience in Desktop Support
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of computer hardware
Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
Knowledge of Networking fundamentals
Knowledge of Security fundamentals
Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware
Knowledge of current protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, FTP, Secure FTP, HTTP, HTTPS
Ability to make sound and logical judgments
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Able to conduct research into issues and products as required
Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
Highly self-motivated and directed
Keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong customer service orientation
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and professional manner
